Preview: Clear Lake HS girls soccer

Reaching the region semifinals may be good enough for some, but not Clear Lake coach Andy Gaworecki.

His Lady Falcons captured region championships and advanced to state tournament in 2008 and 2009, but last season they were eliminated 1-0 by Seven Lakes in the Class 5A Region III semifinals, and according to Gaworecki, that's not acceptable.

"In our eyes it was a huge upset for Seven Lakes to beat us because we feel like we had the talent to keep going and we just didn't perform up to our capabilities," he said. "I don't want to take anything away from (defending region champion) Seven Lakes, but after the way it ended, we feel like we have something to prove this season."

That could be really bad news for the rest of the region, but first comes District 24-5A, where the Lady Falcons have won three straight championships, including back-to-back 14-0 finishes in 2008 and last season.
