Local racers participate in annual J/Fest Southwest Regatta

Five of the winners from the third annual J/Fest Southwest Regatta were from Lakewood Yacht Club.
The regatta was made up of seven J boat racing fleets. Of these seven, boats from the Lakewood Yacht Club placed first in five races. The two races not won by the club went to Corey Harding on Happy Dance and Bruce McDonald on Rogue Warrior 2.
The other winners of the event were Douglas Shaffer in J/PHRF on Gambler, Jay Lutz in J/80 on USA 803, Bill Zartler in J/105 on Solaris, Albrecht Goethe in J/109 on Hamburg and Casey Lambert in J/22 on Blackburn Marine Racing.
The race was sponsored by Lakewood Yacht Club on the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 13 on Galveston Bay. Participants came from as far as Colorado, and a total of 61 boats registered for the event.
