Seven Girl Scout troops from the Seabrook area pooled their money -- $602 -- to buy a small wooden house for someone displaced by Haiti's earthquake.

Dee Wright, the Seabrook councilwoman who died in February after an infection and a coma, had not undergone weight-loss surgery involving Allergan’s Lap-Band system. Her August 2009 weight-loss surgery involved different products, according to her husband, Dallas Wright. Ultimate Clear Lake incorrectly reported the nature of her surgery.

That's on top of the two already in business.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 2, for Dee Wright, a former Seabrook councilwoman who died on Friday after three weeks in a coma. She was 51.

Voting on the day of the city's May 8 election will be held at the Seabrook Community House instead of City Hall. The change was made because City Hall’s air-conditioning system will be undergoing improvements at the time of the election and may not be operable.

Second Chance Pets is looking for pets and people to join its Krewe de Mutz on parade in Seabrook on Sunday, Feb. 21. Prizes will be given for the best canine costumes, and in addition to the dog walk, there will be games, activities and other Mardi Gras fun for both people and dogs.
