HigginsSince joining College of the Mainland in 1979, Jim Higgins has written more than 4,000 press releases and probably has snapped as many photos. He’s watched the college’s enrollment grow from about 2,300 to nearly 4,000. But when he retires, he still might want to come back for a class or two.

JP Goins, a San Jacinto College automotive technology instructor, recently received one of the industry’s highest honors as a General Motors World Class Technician, a distinction held only by an estimated 1,000 technicians in the world.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to mark the opening of the UH-Clear Lake Pearland Campus is set for 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at the campus, 1200 Pearland Parkway, Pearland.
