Clear Springs' magical season ends

The Clear Springs Chargers' storybook season came to an end Saturday afternoon with a 38-21 loss to defending state champion Katy at Tully Stadium. The school and League City community spirit was alive and well during the game, though.

Friendswood falls to Dawson in football

Friendswood's Mustangs lost to Dawson's Eagles in Saturday's playoffs. The win gave Dawson the Region III title and a spot in the final four of state Class 4A Division I football playoffs.

Chronicle high school sports guru Sam Khan Jr. says the secret to the Clear Springs Chargers' playoff success this year rests in one word: speed. Clear Springs takes on Spring Branch Memorial at 6 p.m. Saturday at Galena Park ISD stadium in the third round of the playofs.

The Chargers now get ready to face another Memorial, Spring Branch Memorial, in their next game.

Friendswood advanced to the second round of the state football playoffs on Friday night with a 36-20 victory over Lamar Consolidated at Henry Winston Stadium in Friendswood.

Clear Springs High School wins district title

With a 33-21 win over Dickinson Thursday night, the Clear Springs Chargers won the district football championship. It's the first district title for any sports team in the school's young history.
