See a 'wicked whirlpool' and high water

After Clear Lake and the rest of the Houston area took a prolonged drenching from Hurricane Alex last week, someone calling himself xFaMoUs4LiFex posted the above video from Friendswood, saying:

We wanted to go down to the river by my cousins house, so we did and saw this strong current and wicked whirlpool.

Last week rain gauges around the Clear Lake area recorded:

    • 10.16 inches of rain at Horsepen Bayou and Bay Area Boulevard

    • 8.85 inches at Clear Creek and FM 528,

    • 7.45 inches at Clear Creek and Bay Area Boulevard

    • 6.77 inches at Clear Creek and I-45 in League City

    • 7.29 inches at Clear Creek and Nassau Bay

    • 5.13 inches at Clear Lake and Highway 146

Cowart Creek flooded in Friendswood over the weekend, along with Friendswood's Chigger Creek, before receding.
