    Broken windows spread to Friendswood

The wave of broken windows around Clear Lake has hit Friendswood now.

Friendswood police received 10 reports of windows being shot out overnight in the San Joaquin, Falcon Ridge and Boca Raton subdivisions. All were vehicle windows except for a house in the 1600 block of Falcon Ridge that had a window shattered.

Police believe the incidents occurred between midnight and 12:30 a.m. and were committed by someone with a BB or pellet gun.

Friendswood police did not recover any BBs or pellets, but believe the broken windows are connected to others that have recently occurred in the area, said police spokeswomn Karen Peterson said.

League City was also hit again overnight, League City Police Sgt. John Jordan. Police were still determining how many windows were broken as of this morning, he said.

They did recover a metal ball bearing last night, Jordan said.

"We're still getting hit," Jordan said.

League City also reported Thursday it was hit again, and one resale shop in League City lost a window for the second time.

League City Police Lt. Bruce Whitten said that on Tuesday and Wednesday, about 15 broken windows were reported.

Like the 34 incidents reported last week, most of the windows were in vehicles parked in neighborhoods, especially sports utility vehicles with large back windows.

But Baubles and Beads Ladies Resale, 603 E. Main Street, again had a 5-foot-by-10 foot window broken out, just as it did last week.

GeoSurv, LLC, 303 E. Main Street, also reported a broken window and J.C. Penny, 2520 Gulf Freeway S., had a glass door broken.

Alvin, Dickinson, La Marque and Santa Fe have all seen numerous broken windows recently.

League City police suspect that a slingshot is being used because last week they recovered two metal ball bearings that were too large to be shot out of a pellet gun. But they have said that a pellet gun could involved as well.

The incidents have occurred late at night and early in the morning, and League City police do not have any leads, Whitten said. The businesses that have been hit do not have surveillance video, Jordan said.

"Nobody has come forth and seen anybody who's doing it," Whitten said. "Without a registration to run down or a person to go look for, it's difficult. You figure they're driving because of the area they've covered. Do we go look for high school kids or some 30-year-old who just for whatever reason he's taking aggression out?"

"They're just tearing us up from one side of town to the other," Whitten said. "It's up and down the freeway and all in between."
