Woman who strangled mom gets 50 years

A young League City woman has received 50 years in prison for strangling her mother in their Calder Road trailer home.

The Galveston County Daily News reports that a Galveston County jury wasn't swayed by Erin Moffatt’s claim that she was high, sleep-deprived and off her meds when her confession was videotaped by police in October 2008.

Juror Linda Criner told reporter Chris Paschenko:

“It was difficult, but we believe we had a smoking gun with Erin providing the details of how it happened. What took the most time was we wanted to punish her, but if she gets out on probation, maybe she’ll have the structure to help her along.”
