With Texas' public universities ordered to plan for 5 percent budget cuts through 2011, University of Houton - Clear Lake must make some painful decisions.
UH-Clear Lake already has said it will raise tuition by 4.5 percent, and the Houston Chronicle reports that it will have to plan for $2.8 million in cuts as well. Planned cuts that have not yet been imposed:
$1.2 million through leaving positions vacant and continuing a hiring freeze.
$397,500 from a three-day furlough for faculty and staff in 2011.
$308,000 through cutting summer school sections in 2011.
