The location for voting on the day of Seabrook’s May 8 city election has been moved to the Seabrook Community House.
During its meeting last week, City Council approved having election day voting at the community house, 1210 Anders Avenue, instead of City Hall, 1700 First Street, Mayor Gary Renola said. The change was made because City Hall’s air-conditioning system will be undergoing improvements at the time of the election and may not be operable, he said.
City Council didn’t want voters or election officials to be uncomfortable, Renola said.
“The folks we worry about the most are those who have to be in the polling place the whole time which can span 12 to 14 hours,” Renola said. “It was a pretty easy decision.”
Early voting will still be held at City Hall from April 26 from May 4, Renola said. There are no City Council positions on May 8’s ballot, but voters will decide 40 charter amendments propositions and a proposition to continue its crime control district.
