Officer John Vaughn and Webster’s second police dog, Kyra. Photo from Webster Police Department. The Webster police department has a new partner to help fight crime.
The addition is Kyra, a 2-year-old German Shepherd that was born in the Czech Republic. She will be used primarily for drug enforcement and tracking, Police Chief Ray Smiley said.
She cost $7,000 and will work with Officer John Vaughn. The pair joins the police department’s other K-9 team of Officer Daniel Rebolledo and Igor.
“They’re great,” Smiley said of the police department’s dogs. “They’ve made several busts for us and other surrounding agencies that don’t have drug dogs.”
