Corn flakes just don't cut it for breakfast when it turns cold. What will satisfy a hearty appetite around Clear Lake?
This will get you started:
Chicken-fried porkchops at Seabrook Classic Cafe: Order them with pancakes, eggs, whatever. The important thing is you get something chicken-fried for breakfast. 2511 NASA Parkway in Seabrook.
Biscuit Debris from Jimmy's Egg: Buttermilk biscuits with cream gravy and cheddar cheese. Sausage and ham. No need to make difficult choices. 2402 Bay Area Blvd. in Houston.
Chorizo and potato breakfast tacos from Taquerias Arandas: These days even the fast-food restaurants offer breakfast tacos, but don't you hate it when the chorizo just tastes like hamburger? 190 S. Gulf Freeway at FM 518 in League City.
Omelettes at the Milk Pail: This place is a tea room in a Victorian house, so it isn't for the Cracker Barrel crowd. But even a veggie omelette with cilantro, black olives, mushrooms and tomatoes becomes hearty when you add three cheeses. 1013 E. Main in League City.

Breakfast possibilities have grown
A comment from Ultimate reader Karen P: You know when we moved to Clear Lake about a year ago, it was a hunt on Saturday mornings to find a good breakfast. The choices were donuts, a couple of Tex-Mex or Kelley’s.
The selection has really grown. We really like Jimmy’s Egg, Seabrook Classic, La Brisa and Kelley’s – we’re gonna check out Pelican Grill soon.

Now I'm hungry!
We like Skipper's on 2094 in Clear Lake Shores. The spinach and feta omelet with homemade salsa is my favorite.
The Kolache Bakery in old town League City is the best anywhere. My co-workers demand those kolaches on a regular basis.
If you like a liquid breakfast, Outrigger's under the bridge has the best bloody marys, complete with a giant boiled shrimp.
La Favorita
A breakfast taco isn't really a big breakfast. Anyway, I've been to Jimmy's once and had the Debris. It was indeed a large quantity of food, but it was extremely bland. Total junk food. Not worth eating unless you want two days' worth of fat at one sitting. Still, it was better than Egg & I which serves Hormel meats and Kraft Mac'n Cheese.
It's worth the effort to drive to go to go to La Favorita or to La Tapatia.
Breakfast at Pelican Grill
Pelican Grill in Seabrook has a straightforward but yummy breakfast menu with generous portions. We really like the "Mom and Pop" (literally!) feel of the place!
kolaches & scones
A must try are the kolaches *try ham & swiss* from Mornings Kolaches on Bay Area or the cinnamon, blueberry or cranberry scones from Coffee Oasis off Nasa Road One near Kirby...You can get both heated on the spot & they are very filling-yummmmmmmy!
Breakfast and lunch or brunch
The Egg and I on Bay Area Blvd. Good food and service, manager takes personal interest in keeping customers happy.

Letter of Approval
After trying a new shampoo for the first time. A guy fired off an enthusiastic letter of approval to the manufacturer. Several weeks later he came home from work to a large carton (Lapel Pin)in the middle of the floor. Inside were free
samples of the many products the company produced: soaps, detergents(forklift), tooth paste, and paper items.
