Where do we need stoplights the worst?

Traffic light: It's all I want for ChristmasTraffic light: It's all I want for ChristmasJudging from the traffic backups, the secret's out on my shortcut home from work.

I suppose it's no surprise that I'd run into serious traffic from Christmas shoppers, since, after all, my office is right behind Baybrook Mall. But the backups were building even before all that holiday cheer got going.

The road I'm talking about is Glenwest Drive, but no one seems to know the name. It's just that street that runs behind the mall, connecting Bay Area Boulevard to El Dorado. As everyone knows, Bay Area is to be avoided at all costs from Thankgiving through New Year's, plus weekends year-around. And maybe a couple hundred other days a year.

So the construction of Glenwest Drive has provided a great escape.

Now that El Dorado has been extended into Friendswood, however, more and more people are discovering Glenwest. Last weekend, when I was trying to turn right off of Glenwest to El Dorado, so were dozens of other cars. And you can just forget about turning left onto El Dorado unless you're an adrenaline junkie. It's flat-out dangerous.

So I hereby nominate the intersection of Glenwest and El Dorado for a traffic light.

Can you think of an intersection that needs a light worse?

It is almost impossible to leave our neighborhood most of the time, we have seen numerous accidents here. I guess people get tired of waiting their turn. Please don't wait for a fatality to install a traffic light here!

Traffic light in place, but changes made recently have increased accidents. Protected lefts on Hercules and Medical Center have been eliminated. My husband works at business at this busy intersection and not a week goes by that one or more accidents have occured. My husband and I both avoid this intersection. I would like to know what intelligent engineer recommended this change.

    Maybe an alternative?

Dangerous intersections abound in clear lake. Adding a traffic light is a simple fix, with the down side of making traffic congestion worse on el dorado. May I suggest that from glenwerst no left turns are allowed on to el dorado, barracade the intersection. Then instead further up to the right on el dorardo a u-turn is added to allow eventual left turns on el dorado. Low cost, dosen't add a traffic light and keeps traffic flowing.

another bad intersection is the FM646 intersection between super walmart and super target. This too should be barricarde to not allow cross traffic and restrict turns.
