Meat thief fails to bring home the bacon

Police say a League City shoplifter trying to make a getaway from a grocery store left behind her purse, which contained both the meat she'd stolen and her ID.

Connie Boles, 36, of the 300 block of Lazy Hollow is charged with robbery and is now in the Galveston County Jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond, said League City Police Department Sgt. John Jordan.

Jordan said the shoplifting incident occurred about 1 p.m. Monday at the Randall’s in the 2900 block of Marina Bay Drive West, where employees told police they saw a woman hide meat in her purse.

When the employees followed her into the parking lot and confronted her, a physical altercation took place and she dropped her purse. The shoplifter got away, police said, but without her loot.

Jordan said identification in the woman’s purse led officers to Boles’ Lazy Hollow home, where they caught her while she was trying to leave.
