Two League City women were robbed at gunpoint Monday morning as they waited in a car to pay their mobile phone bills.
League City Police Department Sgt. John Jordan said the two women arrived at a mobile phone store in the 200 block of the Gulf Freeway at 9:50 a.m. Monday and were waiting in their car for the store to open at 10 a.m.
A man armed with a handgun approached the two as they waited and demanded their money, Jordan said. The robber fled on foot with $50 and a debit card.
Jordan said the women returned to their apartment across the street from the store to call police, and the robber was gone when officers arrived.
