Friendswood gets a new playoff opponent

Friendswood was set to play Wheatley High School tomorrow night in the second round of football playoffs.

However, according to the Chronicle's Sam Khan, following the disqualification of Wheatley High School from the playoffs, Friendswood will now play Waltrip High School. The game will still be played at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 21, at Galena Park ISD Stadium.

Wheatley discovered the team had played last week's playoff opener against Waltrip with an ineligible player, and notified the University Interscholastic League on Thursday. Minimum penalty for use of an ineligible player is forfeiture of the contest or contests the player participated in, according to the UIL’s constitution and contest rules.
