It's time to clean out your closet. Photo by Heide Hibbard / FotoliaIt's strictly summer-clothes season now, the perfect time to clean out your closets, and there's a new resale shop in Clear Lake that would welcome your donations.

The Assistance League of the Bay Area -- a non-profit group that provides assistance of all kinds to residents in need -- has opened a shop at 100 E Nasa Parkway, Suite 80, in Webster.

The shop needs nearly new or gently used clothing for men, women, and children, along with home decor, seasonal decorations, toys, and games.

Donations are accepted during the shop's regular business hours, which are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

• Interfaith Caring Ministries: ICM serves over 25,000 working poor families living in the Clear Creek school district by providing food, child care and other assistance. There's a familiar resale shop at Bay Area Boulevard and Highway 3 and a new one on Egret Bay Boulevard between NASA Parkway and League City's Main Street. Drop your donations at the back door of the Bay Area shop from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Do the same at the Egret Bay store from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. • Bay Area Turning Point: Dedicated to helping survivors of family violence and sexual assault, the Turning Point has a resale shop at Nassau Bay Drive and the NASA Parkway. Its clients can use vouchers there as they make new lives for themselves, and the shop also helps generate revenue from the general public. Donations accepted 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call 281-338-7600.

• The Bridge: The Pasadena organization has its hands full helping women and children in crisis, so Southeast Area Ministries (SEAM) runs the thrift store that helps pay for the services. The store's at 2006 Old Galveston Road between Edgebrook and College, and donations are accepted 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Call 713-944-7405.

• Shepherd's Nook: Volunteers from Good Shepherd Episcopal Church staff the thrift store at 201 N. Friendswood next to Kroger's. Proceeds go to local charities like the Laura Recovery Center, the Adult Reading Center, Meals on Wheels as well as outreach ministries within the church. Donations accepted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Call 281-482-8603.

• Hope Village: The Hope Foundation provides people with mental retardation an affordable place to live. Located across the street from Clear Brook High School on Hope Village Road, the resale shop is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, but there's also a 24-hour donation box on the shop's north side.
