The Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol has filled a League City field with U.S. flags to commemorate lives lost to drunken drivers.
Each of the 1,616 flags represents a fatality in Texas. Last year 1,616 people died on Texas roads due to drunken driving in 2008, more than any other state in the United States. The organization hopes the flags will heighten awareness of the heavy toll that drunken driving takes.
